2005 Student Winners

Some winners of WPA Youth Poetry contests were able to make it to Burning Word and read their winning poems on the Main Stage. Washington Student Wins National Award

One of the WPA student contest winners, Kathy Saechao, a 7th grader at Asa Mercer Middle School (Seattle) won the $50 Second Place award in the 2005 Manningham Trust Student Contest. Congratulations Kathy, and teachers, Merna Hecht and Susannah Kapp. Thanks to Deborah Brink, Student Contest Chair. What a nice outcome for WPA's first participation in this National Federation of State Poetry Society-sponsored contest!
